Round Table Meetings with Shadow Cabinet and David Cameron

On Thursday 11th December 2008, the CCF held round table meetings in Westminster with Shadow Cabinet members, Caroline Spelman MP, Dominic Grieve MP, and Baroness Warsi. They met with a group of church leaders and Christian organisations. It was chaired by Caroline Spelman MP who facilitated concise but thought-provoking discussions.

The meeting was then followed by lunch with David Cameron MP. He gave an interesting speech and answered their many and varied questions.

The CCF will be working hard to follow up and build upon the engagement between David Cameron, the Party and the Christian community.

The Christian leaders in attendance were:

CCF Christmas Reception

On Wednesday 10th December, the Conservative Christian Fellowship Christmas Reception was held at the Emmanuel Centre, Westminster. Over 130 people attended, with a good mixture of CCF members and guests.

Pastor Agu Irukwu gave a really good ‘Thought for Christmas’ reminding those present that the Christmas season is one of joy. He challenged us to show others both joy and peace, and joked there should be three Christmases a year to remind us to show these characteristics.

 

Burke Address

The bi-annual Burke Address was held at the International Christian Centre in Glasgow on 5th December, and was a tremendous success. A large crowd gathered to hear Annabel Goldie MSP, the Leader of the Scottish Conservatives, give a fascinating talk on Rebuilding Community in the 21st Century.

During an hour long question and answer session, Mrs Goldie answered a whole range of questions, many focussing on the role faith plays in public life.
