On Monday 17th July six leaders from the black Christian community met with David Cameron to discuss issues in their areas of work. It was an excellent opportunity for David to hear first hand some of the policy recommendations that would be of particular benefit to the black community in Britain, and also for him to hear of the vital work that so many black-led charities and churches are doing in local communities.
This week Elizabeth traveled down to Bournemouth to meet the church representatives who will be helping us organise the church service at Party Conference. We are most grateful for their assistance and are praying it will be a truly fantastic event for all who attend, though there is much work to be done in the next couple of months. Next week Elizabeth will be traveling to “Heavenbound”, organised by New Wine in Somerset, once again representing Christians in Politics. She will be speaking at a seminar on getting Christians involved in politics.
On Wednesday 12th July Sarah traveled to Birmingham to meet members there at a discussion supper organised by CCF Under 35s members Keely Rogers and Cllr. Timothy Huxtable. We were joined by a group of CCF members at the home of CCF trustee Guy Hordern. John Marshall, chaplain at Winson Green Prison, shared some fascinating and insightful experiences of working in the prison service. This was the first of what we hope will be regular CCF events in Birmingham.
CCF members gathered in Westminster on Thursday 19th July to pray for Parliament, the Party and the CCF. We plan to continue organising prayer events throughout each year as we recognize the priority that prayer should play in the life of the Fellowship. Thank you to the many of you who we know pray for the CCF and for Parliament regularly.
Elizabeth joined Philippa Stroud (Director of the Centre for Social Justice and a CCF Trustee) at the New Frontiers conference in Brighton in early July. Elizabeth represented Christians in Politics, the umbrella organisation of the three main Party Christian Fellowships, to spread the word about getting Christians involved in the political process.
