On Friday 27th March Elizabeth and Alexandra attended the Festival of Life in the Excel Centre, East London. It is the largest all night non-denominational gathering of people in Europe, starting on Friday at 7.00pm and ending on Saturday at 7.00am. During the event Elizabeth spoke on the main stage in front of over 35,000 people about the work of the CCF. Also speaking from the main stage Desmond Swayne MP, New Forest West.
On Wednesday 25th the CCF held the Annual Prayer Reception in the House of Commons. The evening was a great success; around 50 CCF members attended throughout the three hour period. Attendees included: Lords, MPs, Cllrs, PPCs and members. During the evening we consistently had 30 people in attendance, which is such an encouragement to see and know the importance of praying for our nation, MPs and Government.
On Thursday 12th March over 40 people attended the first CCF ‘roadshow’. The event was held in CCF chairman David Burrowes’ constituency, Enfield Southgate. In a tremendously successful event, Church Leaders and local CCF members were invited to attend and hear David speak about his life as an MP, and some of the challenges facing MPs who are open about their Christian Faith.
The event was hosted by the CCF, and Deputy Director Ian Lucas said ‘what a fantastic start to our plans of taking the CCF roadshow around the country, to support MPs and those who are standing for Parliament. Our aim is to help build relationships between those standing for public office and the local Christian Community; as well as providing resources to encourage those who are interested in politics and other areas of public life’.
