CCF and the Conservative Party

“The Conservative Party through the Conservative Christian Fellowship wants to be engaged with Christians throughout the country.” - David Cameron MP, Leader of the Conservative Party

One of the key aims of the CCF is to build a relational bridge between the Conservative Party and the Christian Community. It is vital that a long term relationship is established so that issues of concern to the Christian community are communicated to the Conservative Party.

In 2006 the CCF held a discussion forum where over 100 leaders met with David Cameron and Iain Duncan Smith. The feedback from both the party and the Christian community has been extremely positive.

In 2007, as the bi-centennial of the abolition of the Slave Trade Act, the CCF annual Wilberforce Address drew together both political and church leaders to commemorate the anniversary. Rt Hon David Cameron M.P. shared a platform with Bishop James Jones, Bishop Wayne Malcolm, Rev. Dr. Katei Kirby and Pastor Agu Irukwu. The audience of nearly 1000 people was from many churches as well as CCF members. If you wish to read a copy of the speeches please contact mail@ccfwebsite.com.

During 2007, the CCF has held “Engagement in Public Life” seminars in both Birmingham and London. This seminar is designed to assist church members to find out more and equip them for roles in public life. After the successful re-instatement of the church service as part of the conference programme in 2006, the CCF hosted this service again in Blackpool.

The CCF plans to resurrect the Conservative and Churches Standing Committee which provides a forum for representatives from the whole Christian community meeting to meet with key leaders in the Conservative Party. It is hoped that this will lead to small sub groups on different areas of concern being established who could then meet with the various portfolio holders.
